Wood Education and Resource Center Leads Development
of Online Training Information Exchange System
PRINCETON, WVa—The U.S. Forest Service’s Wood Education and Resource Center is overseeing development of an online Training Information Exchange System. This system will help individuals from primary and secondary wood products industries locate continuing education training opportunities, such as workshops and short courses that meet search criteria. System users can either search for available training opportunities in the database or use the e-mail notification system to be automatically informed of appropriate workshops and short courses.
The system matches training preferences identified by system users with available training offerings. Participating training organizations can register available courses online through the Online Training Services Registry System. A notice will be sent to users once a match has been made between training needs and an available course with additional information about course content, contact information, and related data.
An initial version of the system will be available by mid fall for testing and comment by potential users. The system is planned to be operational by early 2008.
