Robert Lueckel Selected as Field
Representative for Morgantown Field Office
MORGANTOWN, WVa—USDA Forest Service, Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry Director Kathryn Maloney has selected Robert Lueckel to be the next Field Representative for the Morgantown Field Office. Lueckel is currently the Forest Supervisor for the Ottawa National Forest in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and has held other positions in the National Forest System, USDA Headquarters, and the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service.
“I am honored to be working for State and Private Forestry in support of the States and private landowners in the Mid-Atlantic region. The conservation programs and partnerships in this region are very important to the public we serve, and I look forward to meeting our many cooperators and building on the good and solid work that has been going on,” said Lueckel. He has been a member of the Society of American Foresters for 25 years and served as a community forester with the Peace Corps in Nepal.
The Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry is a branch of the Forest Service in the U.S. Department of Agriculture that provides technical advice and assistance to State forestry agencies and many other partners to encourage the wise management, protection, and sustainable use of urban and rural natural resources in the 20 Northeastern States and the District of Columbia. This geographic area comprises 43 percent of the Nation’s population and contains 25 percent of the Nation’s forests, of which 93 percent are non-Federally owned.
The Morgantown Field Office is responsible for providing assistance to Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, and the District of Columbia. It supports program areas that include watershed protection, forest health, forest stewardship, conservation education, urban and community forestry, and fire and aviation management.
