Q. How can I get Smokey and/or Woodsy to appear at my event?

A. The National Symbols website is a good starting point for locating the nearest Woodsy Owl or Smokey Bear coordinator. In addition, they can help you determine which character is most appropriate for your event and give you guidelines for the use of the character. Smokey Bear is the national symbol for fire prevention and is used exclusively for events promoting the prevention of forest fires. Woodsy promotes caring for the land, recycling and conservation of natural resources.

Q. How do I get teacher training?

A. Visit our Just for Teachers section of this website. We have curriculum, associated links, and resource materials regarding the USDA Forest Service and forests within our country.
