Abies (Fir)

The genus Abies is a member of the Pine family and is composed of about forty species of symmetrical, conical evergreen trees. Firs typically prefer a cool climate away from heat and humidity. They will not tolerate pollution and cannot withstand urban stress. For these reasons they are not recommended for use in urban areas in the Midwest.
